This is the only way I will eat hotdogs. Dipped in ketchup or on a bun? No thank you. Make them into shoyu hot dogs and serve with rice and I will gobble them right up. This is a simple way of turning hotdogs into something a little more fun.
All you need is :
The way you cut the hotdogs really depends on what you are planning on doing with them. If going to be using them in a bento then I tend to just cut them in half so that I have plenty to work with when the time for decorating comes. If just making them to put over rice then can dice them up.
Put the soy, water, and sugar all together in a small pot cooking on medium heat. Once the sugar has completely dissolved add in the hotdogs.
You want to stir this often, especially if the hotdogs aren’t fully submerged. You want them to simmer for about 20 minutes. The longer they cook the more flavor they have, so don’t worry if it’s a little more than 20 minutes.
That’s it, they are really that easy!
